UNMH Volunteer Services Pet Therapy
Some UNM Hospital volunteers have 4 legs! Our volunteer pet therapy dogs “work,” with Warm Hearts Network, an Animal Humane New Mexico program, to be friendly, gentle and loving. The result? Lots of smiles. On a given day, you may see a human and canine volunteer team walk the halls of UNMH to cheer up and comfort patients – and staff. In addition to pediatrics, they visit other hospital units. All in a morning’s work, they cover about three miles and warm lots of hearts throughout UNMH.
